The Red Bull Bridge Master will be held in Amsterdam on 22 April. It will be the occasion for a unique meeting between Europe’s best BMX riders and the most photographed bridge in the Netherlands.

Magere Brug, the drawbridge originally built in 1670, was pensioned off in 2003 after 330 years of service as an important traffic link across the Amstel (and has since been popular both as a river crossing for pedestrians and cyclists and as a picturesque photographic motif).

This peaceful retirement will be interrupted for one day on 22 April, but not without good reason: Europe’s best BMX riders will compete in a freestyle contest on the Amsterdam tourist attraction – The Red Bull Bridge Master. A competition backdrop that will be unusual both for BMX stars such as Kye Forte (GB) or Sebastian "Bas" Keep (GB) as well as the participating local heroes. "It will be stinkin’ brilliant!", Barry Köhner from Amsterdam exclaims enthusiastically. "The set-up on the Magere Brug will be just fantastic. And the ramps are really innovative and exciting."
Two specially-designed ramps will be used for the jumps (check the page The ramps for more details): "An unusual opportunity for every rider", in Barry’s words.

This unusual opportunity for the riders will also be a special occasion for BMX fans and passers-by. The event can be watched easily from the banks along the river Amstel. For those who want to get an even closer view of the moves and tricks, there is a grandstand on the water: a boat will bring the spectators as close as possible to the bridge itself.
